Solana Bridges Ethereum Dreams with Neon EVM Platform
Neon EVM is a smart-contract platform built on Solana that provides an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) environment. This allows developers to deploy Ethereum-compatible applications while using Solana as the settlement and execution environment.
The project's goal is to connect two ecosystems: Ethereum's smart-contract standards and developer tools, with Solana's transaction processing and parallel execution model. This design can reduce the work required to move an EVM application to Solana.
Neon EVM uses a proxy and execution layer that communicate through the Neon RPC endpoint. The user signs an EVM-compatible transaction, which is then sent to the Neon Proxy operator who wraps it in a Solana transaction. The Neon EVM program executes the transaction, and Solana records the resulting state change.
The NEON token has two main roles: transaction payment and governance. Users pay for transactions with NEON, while holders can participate in Neon DAO governance to propose or vote on changes that affect the Neon ecosystem.
