Solana Cuts Slot Time by 17%, Eyes Bullish Breakout Towards $500
Solana has implemented its fourth stage of the SIMD-0525 proposal by reducing its target slot time from 300 milliseconds to 250 milliseconds, a decrease of approximately 17%.
This upgrade aims to lower confirmation latency on the network without significantly increasing execution capacity. It does this by proportionally reducing compute limits within each slot, which keeps the overall per-second execution budget roughly unchanged.
Solana's mainnet activated this new target slot time with epoch 1037 on September 18th, marking a significant milestone in its development.
