Solana Deploys Alpenglow Devnet Update Amid Faster Transaction Goals

The Solana team has rolled out the Alpenglow protocol in its devnet test network. The update went live on September 22nd, marking a significant step towards optimizing transaction processing times. Currently, Solana's average transaction finalization time is around 12.8 seconds, but with Alpenglow, this figure could be reduced to as little as 150 milliseconds.

Developers can now test their applications in the devnet environment before deployment to the mainnet. A specific launch date for Alpenglow on the main network has not been announced.
