Solana developer Leland King Fawcette missed out on a massive gain from his own token, TROLL. In August 2024, he bought $1,300 worth of the token but sold it hours later for the same price, unaware of its future potential. At the time of sale, TROLL's market cap was just $9,360.

Eight months later, in April 2025, TROLL's value skyrocketed by 174,948% to a market cap of over $158 million. Fawcette had created the token as an experiment to test if influencers would promote unknown meme coins. The missed opportunity represents a staggering 2,769,131% return on his original investment.

TROLL is now one of the top tokens on Pump.fun and a prominent meme coin globally, holding the 9th spot. Fawcette's initial sale decision remains a mystery, but it has become a cautionary tale for cryptocurrency investors.
