Solana Dominates Blockchain Fee Generation as Most Chains Go Feeless
According to DefiLlama's chain fees dashboard, most blockchains are not generating significant revenue. On October 3, 2026, out of 558 tracked blockchains, 399 had zero fees in the previous 24 hours, which is roughly 71% of the total.
This number gets even more striking when looking at the amount collected by individual chains. Only seven blockchains cleared $100,000 in fees during that period, with Solana topping the list at $1.09 million, followed closely by Tron and Binance Smart Chain (BSC).
Ethereum and Bitcoin, two of the largest names in crypto, landed in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Base, an Ethereum layer-2 network, came in sixth, while Robinhood Chain barely cleared the $100,000 threshold.
DefiLlama's data suggests that a small group of networks consistently capture the bulk of fee activity, with the majority of chains generating minimal revenue or none at all.
