Solana Expands Transaction Size Limit to 4,096 Bytes for ZKP Support
Solana's main chain has implemented a new transaction format that increases the maximum size of a single transaction from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes. This change allows for more complex operations, including zero-knowledge proofs and large multisigs, to fit into a single transaction.
The increase is part of a series of protocol upgrades aimed at improving the efficiency and scalability of the Solana network. The new v1 transaction format will enable developers to create larger transactions without having to split them across multiple chains.
Validators running Jito-Solana and RPC nodes running Agave are required to upgrade to version 4.2.2 or later to support the new transaction format. This change is expected to benefit users who rely on zero-knowledge proofs, large multisigs, and batched operations.
