Solana Foundation Launches DvP Program to Cut Securities Settlement Times
The Solana Foundation has introduced Solana DvP, an open-source program designed to revolutionize securities settlement for financial institutions. Built on the Solana (SOL) blockchain, the initiative aims to drastically reduce settlement times from the current one to two days to just seconds.
The program focuses on the delivery-versus-payment (DvP) model, which ensures that asset transfers and payments are completed simultaneously within a single transaction, thereby eliminating settlement risk. The foundation emphasizes that Solana DvP provides reusable standard infrastructure, allowing financial institutions to avoid developing separate smart contracts.
Loddel D'Souza, JPMorgan's head of digital assets markets, highlighted the importance of this settlement standard, calling it core infrastructure needed for institutional market participants to operate at scale without settlement risk or counterparty exposure.
Blockchain-based efforts to upgrade financial settlement have been ongoing. In June 2025, Chainlink, Kinexys, and Ondo Finance completed a cross-chain DvP pilot linking Ondo's tokenized U.S. Treasury fund with the Kinexys settlement network.
