Solana Founder Toly: AGI Still Far From Replacing Human Developers
Solana founder Anatoly (Toly) acknowledges that Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is still far from replacing human developers. This is contrary to the hype surrounding AI coding tools, which have been touted as a game-changer for complex software projects.
Toly is building Percolator, a next-generation perpetual decentralized exchange (DEX) on Solana with a sharded order book and central exchange-level execution speed. He has been actively using AI tools to assist in his development process, but admits that the actual coding is still being done by hand.
The workflow involves using AI for research and quality assurance, rather than full delegation of coding tasks. Toly notes that while AI can excel in design and spec research phases, as well as fuzz testing for bugs, it falls short when it comes to autonomous coding.
