Solana Gets Compliance Boost with Metaplex's MPL-3643 Tokenization Standard
Metaplex has launched MPL-3643, a tokenization standard that allows issuers to bring regulated assets to Solana while leveraging its sub-second finality, high throughput, and low fees.
The standard enables compliant issuance and management of permissioned real-world assets and tokenized securities on Solana by providing standardized, customizable tools for issuers to issue permissioned assets directly on the network.
MPL-3643 embeds customizable rules for transfer restrictions, lockup periods, and jurisdiction limits directly into the asset, enforcing them programmatically at the token level.
According to Metaplex founder Stephen Hess, 'To bring financial markets onchain, we need compliance infrastructure without sacrificing Solana's composability or promise of open markets.'
