Solana Introduces DGLD Gold Token Backed by Physical Reserves
Solana has introduced DGLD, a new tokenized gold asset that is backed by physical gold from the Swiss refiner MKS PAMP. The token went live on October 5th, 2026, marking Solana's entry into the asset-backed token market. DGLD aims to provide a blockchain-based investment channel, offering users a way to hold gold exposure within a crypto wallet.
The launch is supported by two key partners: SwissBorg and Arrakis Finance. SwissBorg's app now allows users to purchase gold directly using the DGLD token, leveraging its existing user base of over a million people. Arrakis Finance will manage the token's liquidity to ensure stable trading from the outset.
This initiative is seen as a strategic move to attract both retail and institutional investors to Solana's DeFi ecosystem. The token's design, which mirrors the value of physical gold while operating entirely on-chain, is expected to enhance user engagement and trading activity. However, no trading volume figures for DGLD have been reported yet, leaving its early adoption metrics a key point of interest.
