Solana Lifts Transaction Limit by 232% in Major Network Upgrade
Solana has upgraded its Transaction V1 to allow for larger transactions on mainnet. The maximum transaction size has increased from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes, giving developers about 3.3 times more room for instructions, signatures, and cryptographic data inside a single transaction.
The upgrade is designed for workloads that previously had to be split across several transactions, including zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs, complex multisignature operations, and certain confidential transfers.
Solana's co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko has pointed out potential applications involving ZK roots and based rollups, where larger transactions could combine proofs and state changes without splitting the process across several operations.
