Solana Network Nearly Halts Due to Routing Glitch

Solana's network nearly stopped working on Wednesday morning due to a routing glitch at Teraswitch, a hosting provider popular with Solana validators. The issue left 28.83% of all staked SOL offline in minutes.

The problem began when a broken route at the Miami site of Teraswitch spread through an internal relay in Amsterdam and affected 12 sites from London to Tokyo. North America was not impacted.

A team at Marinade Finance, a staking platform, reconstructed the incident and found that the network got 86% of the way to a halt, which would have frozen all SOL holders at once.
