Solana (SOL), one of the world's fastest-growing developer-driven cryptocurrencies, has dropped 75% from its all-time high of $295 set on January 18, 2025. It now trades at around $73. The bulls and bears are engaged in a heated debate over whether Solana is worth buying right now.

The bulls point to the Alpenglow upgrade this year as a major boost for the network's speeds, security, and competitive advantage over Ethereum (ETH) and other PoS blockchains. They also expect the passage of the CLARITY Act, which remains stalled in the Senate, to set clearer regulations for stablecoins, tokenized assets, and decentralized apps.

However, the bears argue that Solana relies too heavily on speculative meme coins to drive network activity and faces significant competition from Ethereum's L2 networks. Additionally, fears of interest rate hikes are still chilling the crypto market, making it challenging for Solana to recover quickly.
