Solana Poised to Surpass Ethereum in Market Cap: Kyle Samani's Bold Prediction

Kyle Samani, co-founder of Multicoin Capital, made headlines recently when he predicted that SOL's market cap will surpass ETH in this cycle. In an interview with Cointelegraph, Samani stated that 'nobody is truly using Ethereum today,' citing two main reasons: the stockpile of stablecoins on-chain and stablecoin lending collateralized by ETH.

The data supports Samani's claim to some extent, as Solana generated approximately $23 million in on-chain fees over the past 30 days, ranking fourth across networks. In contrast, Ethereum L1 only generated about $12.6 million, ranking sixth. This suggests that user activity is shifting towards Solana.

Samani also pointed out that ETH's value capture capacity given its ~$300 billion market cap is 'questionable.' He believes there are many more reasonably priced investment opportunities in the market and questioned why investors still hold onto ETH at current valuations. While SOL's market cap is approximately $58 billion, overtaking ETH would require a significant expansion of SOL or a substantial contraction of ETH.
