Solana Price Stalls as Momentum Flatlines at $118
Solana's price has stalled at $118.36, just shy of its critical pivot point at $119.14. The cryptocurrency has been struggling to break through this barrier, despite a blistering 38% rally off its 200-day MA.
The MACD histogram has printed exactly zero, indicating that the bullish momentum that powered the August-September rally has been completely absorbed. This is a warning sign for buyers to reload fast or risk seeing the structure deteriorate.
Rongchai Wang notes that both retail traders (64.3% long) and top traders/whales (65.7% long) are skewed heavily to the bullish side, but this excessive buying pressure has absorbed an enormous amount of demand without generating a sustained directional move, a textbook distribution behavior.
The fundamental case for Solana is genuine, with record ETF inflows, $6.7 billion DeFi TVL, and Alpenglow testnet all contributing to the bullish narrative. However, the crowded long position and balanced spot flow make it difficult to predict whether Solana will break through resistance or see a flush.
