Solana Soars to Seven-Month High as Short Positions Close
Solana has reached a seven-month high, with its price surging to $112.41 on September 18, 2026, according to CoinGecko data. This represents an 11.5 percent increase from the previous day and is almost twice the daily gain of Bitcoin.
The rally is attributed to several factors, including the US futures regulator CFTC sending rule proposals for crypto markets to the White House for review on September 17, which improved market sentiment.
Additionally, short positions worth around $470 million were forcibly closed within 24 hours, amplifying the move in coins such as Solana. Tokens from the Solana ecosystem, like Jupiter and Raydium, also gained 15 to 20 percent, encouraging investors to rotate into the network.
Solana has upgraded its protocol, reducing the target time for a validator's slot from 300 to 250 milliseconds. This change will result in faster block production times, with applications receiving current data more quickly and each slot carrying less work.
