Solana Speeds Up, Remittix Prepares to Unite Payments and Trading
Solana has made significant strides in its infrastructure development, reducing its slot-time from 300 to 250 milliseconds. This upgrade is a measurable technical step towards faster and more efficient transaction processing.
The network's own changelog highlights the importance of this change, noting that it will improve block production. However, it's essential to distinguish between improved performance and instant transaction finality.
Solana is separately testing Alpenglow, an upgrade aimed at achieving much faster finality, with a target of around 150 milliseconds. This separate initiative has not yet been rolled out on mainnet.
The 250-millisecond change could have a positive impact on app developers and users, potentially attracting more users to the network due to improved performance.
