Solana Speeds Up with 17% Jump in Block Production Time
Solana's network speed has increased by nearly 17% thanks to a recent upgrade. The network's target slot time was reduced from 300 milliseconds to 250 milliseconds, allowing for faster block production.
This change is part of Solana's SIMD-0525 proposal, which aims to improve the network's performance. The previous upgrades under this proposal have walked down slot times from 400 milliseconds at genesis to 350 in August, then 300, and now 250 milliseconds.
The upgrade benefits applications that rely on real-time data, such as oracles and automated market makers. These apps will see improved accuracy and faster execution of trades due to the reduced block production time.
