Solana Stablecoin Influx Raises Questions About Verification
The Solana network saw a significant influx of stablecoins on September 19, with Circle minting $250 million in USDC and possibly Tether minting $500 million in USDT within an hour.
According to Whale Alert records, the 250 million USDC mint on Solana was confirmed, with two Circle mints of 250 million USDC each taking place roughly 40 minutes apart. This is a substantial amount for market-making operations or trading desks on Solana.
The Tether claim, however, requires further verification as Coindoo reported that it could not match the claimed $500 million USDT mint to available on-chain transaction data. DefiLlama snapshots also placed Solana's USDT supply near 3.84 billion tokens on both September 19 and 20.
The real story under the disputed headline is that Solana has become a major player in stablecoin supply, with total stablecoins reaching $16.7 billion, ranking it third behind Ethereum and Tron. This growth demonstrates that large issuers are preparing inventory on Solana for traders and market makers.
