Solana Surges on Risk-On Bounce, Short-Covering Context, and Technical Breakout
Solana has experienced a significant surge in its price over the past day, rising by 3.3% amidst a broader altcoin rally. This increase is attributed to several factors, including a risk-on bounce and short-covering context within the crypto market.
The total crypto market cap rose by about 1.3%, while the altcoin market cap (excluding BTC) increased by around 2.0%. This indicates a modest but broad risk-on day for altcoins. Solana's 24-hour figure is slightly ahead of the +1.9% move in the overall altcoin basket, suggesting that some of the 3.3-point move is Solana moving as a high-beta alt in a broadly positive market.
Persistent spot ETF inflows are also sustaining demand for Solana, particularly after dips below $100. US spot Solana ETFs logged their 11th straight day of net inflows on September 1st, adding about $10.9 million in a single session and bringing cumulative net inflows to roughly $1.35 billion.
A significant technical breakout and retest around the $100-$103 zone is also contributing to Solana's price increase. The network has processed about 5.2 billion non-vote transactions in August, a new monthly all-time high, representing a 19% jump from July. The Double Disinflation proposal has been approved, effectively tightening long-run token emissions compared with the prior schedule.
