Solana's price surged by 3.7% over 45 hours due to a combination of upgrades, tokenomics changes, and ETF inflows.

The upcoming Alpenglow mainnet upgrade is expected to replace TowerBFT with Votor and reduce transaction finality from 12.8 seconds to 100-150 milliseconds on the mainnet, making it more suitable for high-frequency payments and tokenized assets.

Solana validators recently approved a proposal to double the network's disinflation rate, cutting planned issuance by around 18.9 million SOL over six years, or roughly $2.2 billion at current prices.
