Solana Surges Past $20B in Daily DEX Volume Amid DeFi Resurgence
Solana has emerged as the leading blockchain for decentralized exchange (DEX) volume, surpassing $20 billion in daily trading activity. The network's dominance is evident in its weekly DEX volume, which regularly exceeds $17 billion, with recent totals hitting $17.322 billion for the week ending mid-September.
The significant growth in Solana's cumulative DEX volume has been driven by three main categories: stablecoin swaps, meme-driven transactions, and perpetual contracts. Tokenized equities have also become a substantial contributor to the network's trading activity, with Raydium processing over 90% of Solana's memestocks DEX volume.
PropAMMs (short for proprietary AMMs) are another factor contributing to Solana's success, capturing between 15% and 30% of global DEX volume. The network hosts approximately 90% of this activity, with Jupiter facilitating a majority of SOL-stablecoin flows through these PropAMMs.
The emergence of newer platforms like PumpSwap is also driving competition in the ecosystem, while established names like Raydium and Orca continue to attract trading volume. Solana's DEX volumes now frequently outpace those of major centralized exchanges like Coinbase and Kraken, with a daily volume peak of $3.25 billion on September 12.
