Solana Surges Past Ethereum in DEX Trading Volume
Solana's decentralized exchange (DEX) volume has reached $60 million this month, nearly doubling Ethereum's $34 million. This dominance in DEX trading volume is a trend that Solana has maintained since October, with January seeing a staggering $258 billion in trading volume on Solana-based DEXs compared to Ethereum's $86 billion.
Tagus Capital notes that Solana's appeal lies in its lower transaction fees and higher throughput, attracting both developers and users. This is reflected in the blockchain's revenue generation, with Solana earning $25 million this month alone, surpassing Ethereum's $16 million.
However, despite these impressive metrics, Solana's total value locked (TVL) stands at $9 billion, significantly lower than Ethereum's $57 billion. This discrepancy highlights the complexities of comparing different blockchains and their respective use cases.
