Solana Surpasses $1 Billion in AUM, Exposing XRP's Staking Limitations

Bitwise's Solana Staking ETF (BSOL) has reached $1 billion in assets under management (AUM), marking a significant milestone for the crypto sector. This achievement comes exactly 10 months after its launch, with capital flowing into the product due to its built-in annual yield of around 5.8%, generated through staking within the regulated ETF.

The success of Solana has exposed a fundamental technological barrier for XRP: unlike Solana's blockchain, which can generate new tokens for staking rewards, the XRP Ledger cannot create new tokens and relies on spot demand instead. The only alternative for funds could be the native XRPL Lending Protocol, currently undergoing a validator vote.

Despite strong investor demand, no individual XRP ETF has managed to reach the $1 billion mark due to the lack of yield. Bitwise's XRP ETF controls 44% of the market with $632.03 million in assets, while its closest competitors follow behind: Franklin Templeton's XRPZ holds $411.39 million and Canary's WAXRP has $234.36 million.
