Solana Taps Binance Vet to Drive Payments Ambition
The Solana Foundation has appointed two new senior executives to lead its strategy and payments push. Rachel Conlan, former chief marketing officer at Binance, is now the foundation's chief strategy officer, while Jamal Raees, who previously led payment initiatives at Polygon Labs, has taken on the role of general manager of payments.
The appointments come as Solana continues to grow rapidly, with over $5 trillion in stablecoin volume processed in 2026 alone. The network also boasts $4.5 billion in real-world assets and $620 million in tokenized equity supply.
Conlan cited the quality of Solana's builder community as a key factor in her decision to join the foundation. 'The ambition of its builders and the active usage already seen on the platform' were among the reasons she left Binance for this role, according to Conlan.
