Solana Upgrades Set Stage for Faster, Cheaper Transactions
Solana's upcoming infrastructure upgrades could give its native token SOL an edge over other high-performance blockchains like Ethereum, Avalanche, and Sui.
The upgrades include a reduction in slot times from 400ms to 200ms, which will result in lower latency and faster transaction processing.
This is part of the Agave 4.2 activation, which also includes reducing storage costs by 90% and increasing transaction sizes by 3.3x.
Anza CEO Brennan Watt mentions that Solana aims to cut slot times from around 400ms to 350ms as a first step toward achieving 200ms slots.
