Solana Validators Begin Voting on Key Governance Proposals
Solana's validator governance has started voting on three proposals, SGP-0001, SGP-0002, and SGP-0003. These proposals aim to change key aspects of Solana's network operation.
The proposals up for vote are: The Solana Constitution, Double Disinflation, and Resource and Inclusion Fee. The Solana Constitution would establish a set of principles for decision-making on the Solana network, while Double Disinflation aims to increase the annual disinflation rate from 15% to 30%. This means that the new issuance rate of SOL will decrease at a faster pace.
The Resource and Inclusion Fee proposal seeks to change the transaction fee structure, making it more dependent on the resources required by each transaction. The current basic transaction fee is fixed at 5,000 lamports, with half being burned and the other half paid to block leaders. SGP-0003 proposes splitting this into a fixed 'inclusion fee' of 2,500 lamports per transaction and a variable 'resource fee' that depends on the requested cost units.
The voting period will last until the end of epoch 1023 (Thursday at approximately 15:30 UTC). The proposals are part of Solana's governance process, which allows validators to vote on key changes to the network. If approved, these changes could have significant implications for the Solana ecosystem.
