Solana Validators to Use Geographic Data for Streamlined Block Production
Anza's Head of Research, TheWattenhofer, has proposed a new initiative to streamline block production on the Solana network. The proposal, called SIMD-0675, aims to reduce delays between validators by leveraging their self-reported geographic locations.
The current proposal focuses on optimizing the order of block production using geographic data from validators. According to simulations, this approach reduced average handover latency by 53%, which could enhance Solana's performance in transaction processing.
Solana is a high-performance blockchain designed for decentralized applications and crypto projects. Its validators play a crucial role in maintaining the network's speed and efficiency.
