Solana vs Arbitrum: Trading Fees Spark Heated Debate

Solana has added the ARB token to its network via Sunrise, expanding options for holders and traders. This move comes as Solana promotes lower fees and tighter spreads compared to Arbitrum.

The claims have sparked a heated debate between industry figures, with Steven Goldfeder, CEO of Offchain Labs, cautioning against drawing conclusions solely from outward fee structures. Goldfeder emphasized the importance of considering protections against harmful trading behaviors such as frontrunning and maximal extractable value (MEV).

Anatoly Yakovenko, cofounder of Solana, countered by asserting that Arbitrum generally faces 'worse spreads and higher fees' compared to Solana routes. He cited figures suggesting a roughly tenfold difference in costs.
