Solana's Agave 4.2 Upgrade Could Give It Edge Over Ethereum, Avalanche, and Sui
Solana is preparing for a major infrastructure upgrade that could give it an edge over competing high-performance blockchains like Ethereum, Avalanche, and Sui. The Agave 4.2 network update will bring three key changes: 90% lower storage costs, 3.3x larger transactions, and a reduction in slot times from 400ms to 200ms.
The faster slots will result in lower latency and quicker transaction processing, making Solana more suitable for applications where speed is critical. This could boost Solana's position against Ethereum, which relies on Layer-2 networks for activity, and Avalanche and Sui, which also focus on speed.
The upgrade also includes a 4,096-byte transaction limit, which will make complex tasks like ZK proofs and large multisig transactions easier. Additionally, the planned move towards 200ms slots could further improve Solana's performance for trading, payments, and other apps that require speed.
