Solana's Alpenglow Upgrade Seeks Sub-Second Transaction Finality

Solana's Alpenglow upgrade has moved to its public testnet, bringing it one step closer to reducing transaction finality time from approximately 13 seconds to a blistering 0.15 seconds.

The upgrade replaces the current TowerBFT system with a voting protocol called Votor, which allows blocks to be closed in just one or two validation rounds.

This significant improvement is expected to benefit critical operations that rely on transaction finality, such as deposit crediting on exchanges and payment confirmation in commerce.
