Solana's first on-chain governance votes have concluded, and the results are in. Three proposals were put to vote - SGP-0001, SGP-0002, and SGP-0003 - with two of them passing.

The passed proposals include ratifying the Solana Constitution, which formalizes a framework for voting power based on economic stake, and doubling the rate at which new SOL issuance tapers off. The latter change is expected to benefit holders as their holdings will be diluted less over time.

SGP-0003, which aimed to increase transaction fees for computationally intense transactions, failed due to concerns it could harm Solana's growth in the AI agent segment.

The passed proposals are set to take effect by 2027, with SGP-0002 expected to be implemented in stages starting from October. The author predicts that this change will have a positive impact on the cryptocurrency, but notes that future proposals may still aim to address transaction fees in different ways.
