Solana's Token Emissions Proposal Could Boost Long-Term Value Amid Short-Term Weakness
Solana's recent price action has been mixed, reflecting conflicting signals from on-chain data and governance proposals. On one hand, fresh on-chain data shows a sharp decline in the number of Solana ($SOL) holders over the past two weeks, falling from nearly 11.8 million to around 11.3 million. This indicates a slowdown in retail participation following $SOL's recent market activity.
The declining holder count can be attributed to various factors, including profit-taking by smaller investors, wallet consolidation, or reduced inflows of new participants. While this metric does not necessarily imply widespread selling, it points to weaker short-term network participation compared to previous weeks.
On the other hand, a major governance proposal has cleared the initial vote and is now in the discussion phase ahead of the final community vote. The proposal aims to accelerate Solana's disinflation schedule, potentially removing billions of dollars worth of future token emissions. If approved, this could strengthen the network's long-term value proposition by reducing token dilution and enhancing scarcity.
Technical signals also suggest bearish momentum may be fading, as the conversion & base lines of the Ichimoku Cloud are heading for a bullish crossover. However, $SOL must reclaim the descending channel's upper trendline and sustain a move above the $79, $80 region to gain credibility and potentially recover toward the psychological $100 level.
