Solo Bitcoin Miner Defies Odds to Win $210K Block Reward
A solo Bitcoin miner operating on approximately 230 terahashes per second of computing power won big on April 2, validating block 943,411 and earning a reward of 3.139 Bitcoin worth about $210,000 at current prices.
This is an impressive feat considering the miner faced roughly 1-in-28,000 daily odds of finding a block, according to Con Kolivas, developer of CKpool.
The winning miner used solo.ckpool.org, an anonymous mining pool that has been operating since 2014 and allows participants to keep their full block rewards minus a 2% fee.
