Soluna Holdings Shifts Focus to AI and High-Performance Computing
Soluna Holdings is expanding its business model to focus on AI and high-performance computing, in addition to Bitcoin hosting. At the Water Tower Research Virtual Insights Conference, CEO John Belizaire emphasized that the company's data centers are built directly at renewable generation sites where excess power is available.
This approach addresses an inefficiency in the power system, as some renewable plants produce more electricity than can reach the grid. The model reduces interconnection timelines from several years to about 18 months and avoids the need for new transmission lines.
Soluna currently operates 206 megawatts of Bitcoin mining and hosting capacity and has a 6.3 gigawatt development pipeline. The company expects AI data center revenue to become about three times larger than current Bitcoin revenue within 18 to 24 months.
