Soneium Partners with DayOneDream to Tokenize K-Pop Revenue
Soneium, an Ethereum layer-2 blockchain developed by Sony Group and Startale Group, has partnered with South Korean entertainment company DayOneDream to tokenize K-pop intellectual property and related revenue. The partnership will connect DayOneDream's WAVIST tokenization platform with Soneium.
This move potentially opens up blockchain-based access to concert, streaming, and music-rights income for eligible users. Rights holders could also gain a new source of funding through this arrangement.
The companies have not disclosed when the first assets will be offered or which artists will be included in the initial offering. However, they plan to outline how the platform and Soneium will be used for future entertainment-related assets at a WAVIST event in Seoul on September 29 during Korea Blockchain Week.
