Sonic (S) is an EVM layer-1 chain that replaced Fantom Opera on December 18, 2024. The S token rose by 70 percent between September 15 and 22, 2026, closes on CoinGecko.

The calendar matters more than the headline number, as the rally started three days before both events. By the 21st of September close, S was already up 55.0 percent on CoinGecko and 68.1 percent on CoinPaprika from the 15th of September close.

The V2.2 upgrade went live on September 22 at 11:36 UTC, which includes gas subsidies that allow an app to pay its users' fees without holding S. The per-contract code limit doubles from 24 KiB to 48 KiB with the upgrade.
