Sony-Backed Exchange Lists Midnight Token Despite Japanese Market Challenges

Midnight, the privacy-focused sidechain of Cardano's ecosystem, has secured its listing on S.BLOX, a Japanese crypto exchange backed by Sony Group. The native token, NIGHT, becomes the first domestic cryptocurrency to be listed on the platform as of August 24, 2026.

S.BLOX is celebrating the milestone with a commemorative NIGHT campaign running from August 24 through September 30, 2026. Customers can receive up to ¥10,000 ($62.79) worth of NIGHT points based on their total purchase amount during this period.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson highlighted the importance of the listing, praising Sony as a major Japanese corporation and acknowledging the challenges of securing exchange listings in Japan. He noted that Cardano took several years to establish meaningful liquidity in the Japanese market.
