Sony-Backed Soneium Partners with DayOneDream to Tokenize K-Pop IP
Soneium, a blockchain infrastructure backed by Sony, has partnered with DayOneDream to explore bringing K-pop intellectual property and entertainment revenue onchain. The collaboration will utilize WAVIST, DayOneDream's platform for tokenizing K-pop IP, which recently demonstrated its capabilities in May by successfully issuing a tokenized IP bond that carried through to final redemption and burning entirely onchain.
The partnership aims to leverage Soneium's blockchain infrastructure and ecosystem to connect creators and IP owners with strong followings, like DayOneDream, with the fans and investors who want to back them. This move is part of a broader trend in real-world assets (RWA), where tokenized assets are pushing tokenized stocks toward record volumes on competing platforms.
DayOneDream's roster includes BTOB, LEE CHAE YEON, MEMI, and 2F, among others. The companies have emphasized that this partnership is an infrastructure move, not a storefront opening for fan purchases, with access to these assets subject to applicable regulatory and eligibility requirements.
The goal of the partnership is to give fans new ways to access supported IP while creating monetization options for IP owners. Soneium and WAVIST plan to continue bringing tokenized K-content assets and their associated revenue streams onchain in the future.
