SOS Limited Inks Indonesian Deal for 500MW AI Data Center
SOS Limited, a US-based cryptocurrency miner and digital infrastructure provider, has signed a non-binding Framework Cooperation Memorandum with an Indonesian company to develop a 500-megawatt wholesale AI and cloud data center campus in Bintan, Indonesia.
The proposed facility will have an initial capacity of about 50MW in Phase 1, with potential tenants expressing interest in over 180MW of power. This includes global cloud, internet, and AI platforms seeking to leverage the platform's competitive pricing and special-economic-zone advantages.
SOS plans to fund the project through an equity and project-finance structure, with senior debt arranged through institutional lenders. The Memorandum contemplates a 10-year coal-index-linked pricing formula to provide market-responsive electricity costs.
According to Yandai Wang, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SOS Limited, 'This memorandum represents an important step in SOS’ strategy to expand into digital infrastructure... Bintan offers proximity to Singapore with potentially lower power and land costs and special-economic-zone advantages.'
