South Korea Confirms Crypto Taxation Plans Amid Market Concerns
South Korea has confirmed that it will implement crypto asset taxation starting in 2027. The government's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, Koo Yun-cheol, stated that crypto taxation would proceed as scheduled after the extension expires at the end of this year.
Koo emphasized that the government would continue evaluating and refining relevant rules during enforcement. However, current regulations do not allow investors to carry forward crypto asset losses to offset future gains, raising concerns among domestic investors about unfair treatment.
