South Korea Crypto Trading Drops 19.56% in One Week

Share

South Korea's crypto trading volume fell by approximately 19.56% in just one week, according to data from Digital Asset. The combined trading volume across five major exchanges dropped to around 20.5 trillion won ($15.1 billion) from September 25 to October 2.

The largest exchange, Upbit, retained its first place position with a market share of 64.04%, although it lost 3.3 percentage points compared to the previous week. Bithumb's share rose to 26.66%, while Coinone increased its share to 6.58%.

This decline in trading activity comes as part of an uneven year for South Korean crypto markets, with some periods showing sharp increases and others significant drops. In the first half of 2026, average daily trading volume at domestic virtual asset exchanges fell by 44%, according to official data from the Korea Financial Intelligence Unit and Financial Supervisory Service.
