South Korea Governance Concerns Cloud Naver Financial's Dunamu Takeover Plans
South Korea's National Assembly Research Service has flagged governance risks in Naver Financial's proposed takeover of Dunamu, the operator of Upbit cryptocurrency exchange. The concerns were raised as part of a broader review of the deal.
The research service highlighted potential issues with the company's corporate governance structure and internal controls.
Separately, South Korean investors have launched an initiative to delay the implementation of a 22% tax on cryptocurrencies, which is scheduled to take effect in January 2024. The petition has already gathered over 50,000 signatures on the National Assembly's platform.
