South Korea Leads East Asia's $1.2 Trillion Crypto Market
South Korea has emerged as the leader in East Asia's burgeoning crypto market, according to a recent report by Chainalysis. The country is at the forefront of a region that has seen a staggering $1.2 trillion in crypto activity. This dominance underscores South Korea's significant role in the global cryptocurrency landscape, driven by its tech-savvy population and favorable regulatory environment.
The report highlights South Korea's robust infrastructure for digital asset trading, with major exchanges like Coinone, Bithumb, and Upbit playing pivotal roles. These platforms have recently lifted trading warnings on several cryptocurrencies, including SAND, which saw a notable 52% price surge following the removal of these alerts. This move has further bolstered investor confidence and market liquidity.
Meanwhile, other cryptocurrencies have also shown significant movements. Cardano's ADA surged by approximately 11%, reaching its strongest level since May, while Bitcoin neared $87,000 after a weak U.S. jobs report. The report also noted that AAVE trading volume jumped by 68%, defying broader market slump conditions. Ethereum's staking exit queue hit a two-week high, with an estimated wait of 13 days and 16 hours, the longest exit delay recorded in 2026.
The report suggests that South Korea's leadership in the crypto market is likely to continue, fueled by ongoing technological advancements and increasing institutional interest. As the sector evolves, the need for tailored liquidity metrics becomes more apparent, ensuring that the market remains robust and transparent.
