South Korean authorities have arrested three individuals in connection with an alleged fake XRP staking scheme that allegedly defrauded 71 investors of $9 million.

The suspects are accused of operating a platform called Fxrpntwork.com, which promised users high returns on their XRP investments through staking.

However, the police investigation found that the platform was fake and that the promised yields were not real. The authorities have frozen 17.3 billion won in digital assets on overseas exchanges as part of the ongoing case.

The incident highlights the growing threat of staking scams in the cryptocurrency space, with scammers often using familiar asset brands to make their schemes appear more credible.
