South Korean Stablecoins Flow Overseas for Record 18 Months

Share

South Korea's stablecoin outflows continued for an 18th straight month in June, with a net transfer of 560.3 billion won to overseas exchanges.

The cumulative net transfers since January 2025 reached about 14.9 trillion won, according to data from South Korean exchanges.

This trend underscores sustained demand for offshore crypto products, which are attracting Korean traders with derivatives, DeFi, staking, and tokenized asset products not available on domestic platforms.

The contrast between stablecoin transfers and overseas stock flows is striking: in June, the net outflow of stablecoins equaled 77.6% of Korean retail investors' net purchases of foreign shares.
