SpaceX' $1.6 Billion Bitcoin Holdings Soar as Crypto Market Rebounds
Bitcoin has surged by 14% over the past seven days, breaking through the $86,000 mark and reaching around $86,183. This significant increase in value has not only driven a recovery in the crypto market but also lifted asset values for companies with heavy Bitcoin holdings.
Among these companies is Elon Musk's SpaceX, which holds approximately 18,712 Bitcoins at an average cost of around $35,000 per coin. According to its S-1 prospectus filing, this means that the total value of Bitcoin held by SpaceX has officially surpassed $1.6 billion, higher than the $1.29 billion to $1.45 billion valuation disclosed in its previous prospectus.
This appreciation in SpaceX's BTC holdings provides a significant capital buffer for the company's R&D projects with extremely high burn rates, such as its Mars base and space AI data centers. Additionally, it gives its stock a 'digital gold/crypto concept stock' attribute, which can attract institutional investors seeking both aerospace tech growth and Bitcoin's hedging value.
