SparkLend USDS Borrowing Surges Past $800M
SparkLend's USDS borrowing has surpassed $800 million, setting a new all-time high after surging 64% in the past 30 days. This milestone comes as part of a broader picture that looks equally strong, with total provided liquidity at approximately $6.8 billion and active borrowings reaching around $2.13 billion.
Total Value Locked ranges between $4.65 billion and $7.4 billion depending on the metric used, but it's Ethereum-native collateral driving much of this activity. Wrapped staked ETH (wstETH) accounts for over $3 billion in supplied assets.
SparkLend's economic model diverges from Aave V3 by using a governance-determined borrowing rate for USDS instead of market-driven interest rates. The protocol also benefits from Sky's Peg Stability Module, which allows 1:1 swaps between USDS, USDC, and DAI.
The recent deprecation of Gnosis Chain deployment as of September 14, 2026, consolidates the protocol's resources entirely onto Ethereum, aligning with the SPK governance token launched in June 2025. However, this also creates a risk: concentration of collateral in a single asset type.
