Srinivasan Leaves US for Singapore, Cites Innovation and Stability
Former Coinbase Chief Technology Officer Balaji Srinivasan has left the United States and become a Singaporean citizen, citing the city-state's welcoming environment for innovation and entrepreneurship. He argues that innovation is shifting towards Asia, with countries like Singapore and India offering business-friendly policies, efficient governance, and openness to emerging technologies.
Srinivasan criticizes the US technology environment, saying it has become too bureaucratic and polarized, making it difficult for entrepreneurs to pursue ambitious projects. He believes that Singapore provides a more stable environment where innovation and entrepreneurship receive stronger institutional support.
The entrepreneur's decision was also influenced by his personal experiences as an Indian-origin immigrant in America. He recalls being bullied as a child and feeling like he didn't belong, but says that Singapore's multicultural society made him feel accepted and culturally connected.
