Stablecoin Balances Plummet 20% as Traders Rethink Market Participation
The latest data from BeInCrypto shows that stablecoin balances on major centralized exchanges have dropped by approximately 20% since their peak at the end of 2025. The current aggregate balance stands at around $64 billion, down from a high of $80 billion last year.
This decline suggests that traders are either moving funds into other assets or withdrawing capital from exchanges altogether, potentially reflecting a shift toward self-custody or more cautious market behavior. The reduction in sidelined buying power may temper short-term buying pressure in the crypto market.
Binance's share of exchange-held stablecoins has risen to 68.5%, up from the low-60% range at the end of 2025, indicating its success in retaining or attracting stablecoin deposits. However, this increased concentration raises concerns about systemic risk and the potential for a single platform to have an outsized effect on market stability if it were to experience operational issues or regulatory action.
